How my dance exams went and what I'm doing in work experience next week - Dance Saturday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,

 Last Sunday, I had a dance exam for my ballroom and street routines. I did street first and ballroom second. For my street, I danced to 1999 by CharliXCX and Don't Call Me Up by Mabel. There were perhaps a couple sections that could have been neater but on the whole, I think that it went well. I think that I did well in ballroom too. I did forget, I think once, the lock step in the quick step but I didn't stop and I managed to complete the routine. I didn't forget anything in the jive and I think I performed the routines in both styles well on the whole. In comparison to last time, when I did samba instead of paso, I would say that it went a lot better this time!😂

 Starting Monday, I'm also beginning my work experience at my old dance studio. It's great because in comparison to all my other friend's jobs, I only work for a short amount of time. On Monday, I start at 3:45pm and finish at 8:00pm so I get to have a lie in in the morning and I only work for 4 hours in the afternoon!😂 On Tuesday, I begin work at 9:15am and I work until 11:00am so I only work for 2 hours. I am currently in the process of coming up with a ballet routine for 5-6 year olds which I'll be teaching on Tuesday at 4:15pm so I'll need to go back to the studio for a little bit to teach them that. I'm doing it to the song Rainbow from the movie Ballerina. I'm also helping out with the tap routines and I have also asked to help out with the jazz and contemporary classes.

    Good for you on your dance routines. I'm sure you did wonderful! Your job sounds like so much fun. I'll look forward to hearing how you do with the little ones. I love teaching 5 and 6 year olds. What a great age!

Finding something new to study

Hello Jujubears and welcome to another blog post, Today, I am going to be doing something a little bit different. I've been on the hunt for something new to study. I looked up 'interesting things to study' and it came up with: How to pickle your own vegetables (?!) Learn a new language ( I am bilingual) Learn to code (been doing enough of that already) Find out more about microbiology (too complicated) I just wanted to find out more about a particular subject. So then I searched up 'interesting SUBJECTS to study'. It came up with this: Mathematics (I'm on holiday)  English (again, I'm on holiday) Complete study and practice of geography ( again,again, I'm on holiday) So I thought. Being a model and role model are two separate things

Hello Jujubears and welcome to another blog post, Today I am going to be talking about the differences between models and role models and why we might get the two mixed up. I was recently reading Anne Frank's diary and she brought up how her parents wanted her to be the model child. At first, I thought it made sense but on second glance, I realised that it didn't. For example, we consider models to be figures in photos and magazines like Vogue. All models are doing is promoting something that they don't own. So by saying someone is or has to be a model child, it's implementing that they have to represent something that they don't own ; something that isn't them. To me, this makes sense and answers a lot of difficult questions. When we look at magazines, we look at something someone else has and try to fit it with our own body type. The cotton industry and its effects on our planet- Writing Wednesday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, Recently, I watched a documentary called Fashion's Dirty Secrets with Stacey Dooley and I was shocked by what I had seen. We constantly talk about the effects of plastic on our environment but little do we know that cotton has a large impact on our planet too. If we are globally producing 100 billion new garments from new fibres every year, our planet will simply not be able to handle the impact-as Stacey Dooley quoted. So what is the damage? Here are a few examples. BBC Three Back in the 60s, the Aral Sea in Kazakhstan, covered 68,000 sq km. It was known as one of the biggest inland seas in the world with a full ecosystem and attracting loads of tourists. However, it has shrunk dramatically due to the cotton production. Stacey drove for 3 hours on what once was the seabed. This catastrophe is all down to the fact that we can use up to 15,000 litres of water to grow cotton to make one pair of jeans.
