Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,  Here is the official recipe for the chicken wraps that me and my sister made on Saturday night. I hope you enjoy! Cooking on Saturdays - Lifestyle Monday

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,  Recently, me and my sister have begun to start cooking on Saturdays. Now, if you don't already know me, I should probably tell you that my mum is a pretty great cook. The main reason why my family rarely has takeaways is because my mum cooks almost everyday and to her credit, that's really amazing because she also runs her own cooking and baking business on top of that. This is why when a lot of parents say that they don't have the time to cook on most nights for their children, I don't really believe them because if my mum can do it, I can't really see why anyone else can't. Not that I don't love the odd takeaway dinner from time to time because, especially during the first big lockdown over the summer, me and my family definitely took advantage of all the great food that was on offer in order to celebrate my birthday, as well as mine and my sister's results on GCSE and A-level results day. However...

A weekend away in Harwich - Writing Wednesday

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,  On Friday afternoon, me and my family packed our bags, got in the car, and left for the industrial seaside town of Harwich. If you don't really know my family well, then you won't know that we often do these sort of spur of the moment things where we spontaneously get away and either have a day out or a short weekend away just to relax and have fun. On Friday, we thought it was a good idea to begin our half term holiday with a short weekend away. I knew that this was something that we were going to do but I only found out on Thursday that we were going to Harwich so it was kind of a nice surprise. I was headset on not doing any work on the holiday so I literally brought nothing in terms of school work with me. My mum insisted that we all just enjoy ourselves on the weekend so I literally made it my mission to basically chill out and do nothing. It was very refreshing and I'm glad I did it! I feel like the first term of...

Pizza oven and pizza party! 🍕 - Lifestyle Monday

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, Recently, my dad finished building the pizza oven that he'd been working on for months and last week, he was able to lift it up onto the metal table he had built. The fact that he had managed to work on the pizza oven and lift it up on his own, amazes me. If you don't know how heavy a pizza oven is then I should probably break down to you how it's made. You get a metal case, in this situation an old metal oil barrel, and you cut it down to shape and then you fill it with concrete/clay so that there's a thick layer to line the inside. Once this is dry, it is pretty rock solid and weighs a tonne and that's the sort of structure my dad had to lift on the table. It was so heavy that he had to ditch the old wooden table he bought to hold it up and he had to weld a whole new metal table. My dad's a physicist so he was able to engineer a way of lifting this bomb-like oven mostly by himself. My mum was not completel...

Answering frequently asked questions or things you've always wanted to know - Lifestyle Monday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,  Today, I'm going to be doing a general Q & A for frequently asked questions or things that I think you've always wanted to know about me, my life, and my views on things. I've been writing blog posts for about 4 years now and throughout my time in doing this, I've been asked a lot of general questions about myself. Just in recent years of my life, I've also been asked very similar questions so today, I'm going to answer them for you so that you can find out more about me. Enjoy!💜 What are some of the challenges that I personally think the next generation will face? I feel like this question has been asked a lot recently because of the current Covid-19 situation. It's not got much to do with me but I thought it would be an interesting question to answer so that you can see my take on it. I believe that we will probably have to continue paying for the financial damage that was caused by the outbreak ...

My morning routine during quarantine - Lifestyle Monday

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, If there's one thing that I have really enjoyed doing during lockdown and quarantine, is not having to get up early in the morning. Even when I've had some homeschooling to do, I was able to take my time in the morning and get up a little later and that was something that I really enjoyed. Admittedly, come September (or whenever we're going back to school) I will definitely have to get up at six in order to catch the bus to college in the morning but I guess that's just part of being a sixth form student. However, for now at least, I can enjoy the simple luxury of not having to necessarily look at the clock. Today, I woke up at 8:00am and watched a bit of YouTube. The person I've been really getting into watching is Steve Backshall. He's a wildlife show host and I used to watch his Deadly 60 program on CBBC, before going to school in the morning. He is famous for handling some of the most dangerous animals, ...

Making ravioli with my mum and picking plums- Lifestyle Monday

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, On Friday, I made ravioli with my mum. Before that, we went on a really long walk around the village to try a pick up some plums to make jam. I thought that it was only going to be a short walk but as we went further and further along, my mum suggested going on a little further, down a lane that I haven't really been down before. It was quite nice and we saw some beautiful horses on the way. However, we were really catching up with the rain and we felt a few drops of water on the way home. We speed walked down the public pathway and I was beginning to wonder where these plums were. Turns out, the plum trees were in the field, right outside our house. I didn't quite understand why we went on that long walk if the plums were right next to our house but we got a good workout in! There weren't as many plums as there were last time my mum came to pick them because the farmer already picked most of them but we still managed...

How to make pasta- Lifestyle Monday

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, A few days ago, my parents went out in the evening to visit a friend so it became mine and my sister's responsibility to make dinner. We usually make pasta on days like this so that's what we did. We sat down in front of Doctor Who and ate our pasta and it was delicious so I thought i'd share the recipe with you guys. Enjoy! You will need: Half a packet of normal pasta (for 2 people) 1 can of tomatoes 1 onion 1 clove of garlic Salt and pepper Firstly, fill large pan half full of water and bring it to a boil. Next, cut up your onion and garlic and open your can of tomatoes. Then, once the water is brought to a boil, turn the heat down to medium and put in your pasta. Whilst your pasta is cooking, fry off your onion then garlic in a pan and pour in your tinned tomatoes. How to make cheddar sticks- Lifestyle Monday

Image
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, As some of you may know, if you follow me on my Instagram, on New Years Eve I made cheddar sticks when my parents were out in London. My mum had to deliver one of her cakes to a wedding so me and my sister were in charge of dinner that night. My sister made a salmon mousse from my mum's recipe whilst I made the cheddar sticks. Along side this, we had salad and crackers etc but today, I'm going to show you how to make cheddar sticks. By the way, they were a big hit amongst my family so they definitely won't disappoint. You will need: 400g of cheddar 4 slices of soar doe bread (for the breadcrumbs) 2 eggs 4tbs of flour Salt, pepper, and oregano Vegetable oil Firstly I cut up the cheddar. First into long strips and then in half. Then, I put the cut up sticks into a freezer bag to put into the freezer for a few minutes whilst I got everything else ready. Then into trays I put in the flour, breadcrumbs (which I ...
