Is there more we can do for the environment? - Lifestyle Monday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,

Recently I've been re-watching the hit documentary series, Blue Planet, by David Attenborough. I personally find this documentary series really amazing because it highlights how animals act and behave towards our ever changing environment. However, what I find most shocking is that this documentary was filmed 4 years ago and if we look at all the things that have been achieved in those 4 years, there would be very little to talk about. Sure, the government has been shaken slightly by the warming of the planet and plastic has been a hot topic but apart from that, nothing has really happened. To me, this is really frustrating. There is so much to be done and people are choosing to sit down and do nothing because it's the easiest option. Well, it may be the easiest option but it's certainly not the most effective what so ever. People are going for the easiest option of telling people what the world's problems are on their Instagram stories, whilst not doing something else on top of that to actually change things. It's great to inform the world about these things but quite frankly, I think we're educated enough. People now need to act upon what they're preaching to other people. Just simply going out and showing people your aim to go plastic free for a week, online, is showing that you're trying to do something about this at the same time as whipping up inspiration for others to do the same. Simply picking up a few bits of litter that you see on the floor and showing your friends that picking up rubbish is environmentally friendly, will have an impact on a lot of people. Asking your parents to invest in some energy efficient light bulbs will mean that you are not using as much energy on everyday things as usual. These are small baby steps that will amount to bigger solutions to this problem. If we don't start somewhere, how do we expect to improve? Get up a do something even if you think it won't amount to anything. When you first learnt how to ride a bike, you only went a short distance at first. But that short distance enabled you to go even further and further until eventually, you could ride your bike. Why not do the same for the environment?

What have you done to change the environment? I've been reusing a plastic water bottle for a month instead of throwing it away. Let me know in the comments below your suggestions and I'll be sure to reply to them. I ♡ hearing from you.

See you next time,

Bye,

XOX, Juliette
