What sixth form colleges I'm hoping to go to for dance - Dance Saturday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,

Recently, I've been going to a lot of taster days and taster sessions for all the different sixth form colleges that I want to go to. Next year in September, I'll be in year 12 so I'm looking for colleges now so that I'm ready for September next year. The first college I visited was kind of awkward to get to because my dad had to drive me there and the bus took too long to get there. That was an important thing for me to bare in mind because if I was to go there next year, it would take quite a while so the college would have to be really good for me to go there. However, I didn't actually like the college as much as I thought I would because they said that they specialised in dance and all they talked about was politics and how great their school council was so that kind of put me off.

The next college I visited was in the centre of town and it held an open evening so I went with my parents too. This particular school was notorious for having quite a few people coming in from public schools and we asked some of the tour guides which schools they came from and many of them came from grammar and public schools. However, despite this, they weren't actually snobby in the slightest and they were actually, surprisingly really nice people. I really liked the sound of the combined English course because you get to study magazines, newspapers, and blogs as well as historical literature so it combines both English language and literature into one and it sounded really interesting. I also saw the dance studio that they had and it looked nice. We also saw a dance performance held by the current year 12s and I really liked the tap solo that one girl did, as well as a contortion solo that this other girl did which looked really cool. Overall, I was impressed with this college.

The last college I visited was closer to where I live so that was what lured me to that school. I heard that it was also quite good for dance and performing arts so that's why I went to their taster session after school on Thursday. Let me tell you, it was a waste of my time! The school is under the IB program so as well as all the other subjects, I would also have to take science and maths. On Thursday, I did English and environmental systems and societies. English was rubbish because we learnt about apologies which was really bad because it had nothing to do with English what so ever! I also found the environmental science incredibly boring and I didn't like the teacher at all. The sixth form is also shared with a secondary school so really we're just using their resources instead of our own. They also seemed to talk more about sports in that college than they did about dance. Overall I was incredibly disappointed with that sixth form.

Overalll, I think i'll be choosing the second college I visited because I could picture myself going there and the dance seemed really good. We have to pick a second option of schools we want to go to so If I haven't found anything else that i've particularly enjoyed, I'll probably go to the first college I went to instead since even though it wasn't my favourite, there were more things that I enjoyed in that one than I did with the last one.

What are you hoping to do post-16 wise? What did you choose if you've already been through it? Let me know in the comments below and i'll be sure to reply to them. I ♡ hearing from you!

See you next time,

Bye,

XOX, Juliette
