Reviewing Harvey and Janette's perfect score couple's choice routine - Blogmas day 2 - Dance Saturday

I feel like Strictly has a real Christmas atmosphere to it so I thought that I would make my reviews a part of Blogmas. Enjoy!

I'm really happy that Harvey got a perfect score for his couple's choice routine last Saturday. In most circumstances, the celebrity dancers want to get a perfect score and so they kind of expect it to happen. However, this came to the surprise of Harvey and I truly think that he deserved it because he worked hard and really executed the dance well. Like Craig, I wasn't thinking too much about the dance itself because I was just enjoying watching it in the moment. I really liked the choreography that Janette did because it was a nice mixture between contemporary and street commercial and it really suited Harvey's style well. What I really liked about the dance also were the lifts. At the beginning of Strictly, Harvey was really nervous to do lifts because he felt like he wasn't going to be able to lift his partner up. However, now I see him quite literally as an expert lifter because he really supported Janette well in that routine, especially when she was being flipped on her side and had to aerial out of the lift. I was also just as impressed with Harvey's emotional execution and I think that that allowed him to listen to the music and really hit all the isolations. Overall, his musicality was on point, his lifts were well executed, his emotions were on show and I really enjoyed watching his routine. I hope that Harvey is able to carry these elements through with his ballroom dancing because they were really good.

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Clara and Aljaz. I really enjoyed the routine that they did even if it really wasn't Clara's style of dance. I still liked how upbeat the jive was and it was really fun to watch. I think Clara did amazingly well and I think she should be proud of how far she has come.

Somme and Arras trip photos

I went on a year 9 history trip to the Somme and Arras. I visited loads of WW1 memorials and as a group we discussed wether or not they were the right way to remember them by. I also visited trenches. Some were left as they were and some were made today as they would be 100 years ago. We discussed which one was the best way to preserve the history of the trenches.  I also visited a mine. I forgot to take photos but we visited a quarry and a mine 20 metres underground that was used for a secret attack against the Germans. This was during the battle of Arras. All of these places however were so overwhelming to see but places I would definitely recommend going to. How should we remember the soldiers that died in WW1? Finding something new to study

Hello Jujubears and welcome to another blog post, Today, I am going to be doing something a little bit different. I've been on the hunt for something new to study. I looked up 'interesting things to study' and it came up with: How to pickle your own vegetables (?!) Learn a new language ( I am bilingual) Learn to code (been doing enough of that already) Find out more about microbiology (too complicated) I just wanted to find out more about a particular subject. So then I searched up 'interesting SUBJECTS to study'. It came up with this: Mathematics (I'm on holiday)  English (again, I'm on holiday) Complete study and practice of geography ( again,again, I'm on holiday) So I thought. Amy and Karim's amazing foxtrot and Emma and Anton's beautiful foxtrot - Dance Saturday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, I think, that whilst it was the week where somebody was going to be sent home, every dancer on Saturday had some sort of breakthrough. I felt as though people grew in confidence from week 1, even though they made some mistakes in their routines. One of these breakthroughs was Karim and Amy's amazing foxtrot. I was initially quite nervous about this routine, because Karim had impressed us all with his Latin skills in the cha-cha. However, I wasn't sure how he was going to do in a more elegant ballroom style but he surprised us all I'm sure. He had phenomenal posture and you could tell because he was supporting his partner, Amy, really well. His hand placement as well underneath her arm, stayed put throughout the whole routine, when they were in hold which I thought was excellent attention to detail.
