Parsnip is angry too πŸ”πŸ˜‚ - Writing Wednesday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,

A few months ago, one of our chickens called Roast became a very broody hen. She was always a particular chicken that always used to runaway from us everytime we came up to her but one day, as if over night, she changed personality very quickly. It was like watching Dr Jekyll turn into Mr Hyde. She sat in her egg box, ruffled up her feathers, and became very defensive everytime we tried to lift her up and put her outside. She was sitting on eggs that weren't even hers and this marked the beginning of the month-long struggle to snap her out of her attitude. We thought that it would all be over after Roast but one day, we found another certain someone still inside the egg box by midday. We opened the hatch to find an angry, brooding Parsnip, sitting on top of eggs that weren't even hers, with a MEGA attitude. She looked super defensive and she kept on splaying her feathers like a cat hunching it's back, everytime we tried to handle her. Parsnip is our most dominant chicken so any sign of defiance that she shows towards us, feels like a tidal wave hitting us. She will trundle down her ladder in an unladylike manner and wolf her food like a beast, before slowly making her way out of the pen, beating her wings like a gorilla beating its chest and ruffling up her feathers. She will squark like a crow when we approach her, she will spend a lifetime preening her feathers trying to make herself look pretty, and then,  rather unpleasantly, she will poop everywhere she walks. Although it sounds trivial, it's not actually healthy to keep a hen in this state so how do you deal with this? Most people just place their chickens outside and lock the door behind them but for Parsnip, it's already been two weeks and she is still ANGRY. You can try to tell your broody hen that no chicks will come of this but they will still be moody. One person suggested to put your chicken in a bucket of cold water everyday which might be the route we have to take. We are going to Wales on Saturday and one of our friends will be looking after our three chickens so Parsnip better be on her best behaviour. Otherwise I will feel sorry for the person who will have to deal with that awful attitude for a week. One can only hope an pray that she's not quite the little madame by Saturday. Anyway, for now I just say, "let Parsnip be a chicken!" πŸ˜‚

The look of pure evil!πŸ˜‚πŸ’œ
