How did my first week of work experience go? - Dance Saturday

By -
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, This week, I did a work experience placement at my old dance studio. It was a lot of fun. I got to choreograph a contemporary routine, a ballet routine, and I even taught a samba routine to the students. At first, I choreographed the contemporary routine to Sia's song Bird Set Free but when I arrived at the studio, they didn't have the song so I ended up doing it to Dangerous by David Guetta. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have probably seen the routine on my stories (I'll link it below). It worked beautifully and the students really enjoyed the routine and they wanted to add it to the show. I also taught a ballet routine to the song Rainbow from the movie Ballerina, to 4-5 year olds. A few of the found it difficult but the ones who were more advanced in ballet picked it up quickly and they all really enjoyed it in the end. On Wednesday, I taught samba to a group of 9-12 year olds during their tap class. Th...

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again - Writing Wednesday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, If you follow me on Instagram, @jujupage1, you will know that I've spent the last 3 days on a little family holiday in Yoxford, Suffolk. I shall be posting all about how it went but today, on New Year's Day when you'll be reading this, I wanted to talk about something that you may find useful for the rest of the year. We want to start this new decade on a high so today I'll be focusing on the topic of perseverance. Now, on my holiday, I watched the first part of a new film that I've never seen before and it's called Eddie the Eagle. If you're a late 80s kid and British, you'll most likely know who Eddie the Eagle is but if you didn't know who he was like me, he was the first British ski jumper to compete in the winter Olympics, since 1928. His real name is Eddie Edwards but he was nicknamed Eddie the Eagle since he was able to compete at the age of 22 years old. Despite being passionate in spor...

How we are so lead by the media- Writing Wednesday

By -
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, The media can be a persuasive and manipulating place where people get drawn into the big titles and unofficial political propaganda that people are scared to say, has an impact on them. The classic example of this is Donald Trump. I'm not saying that he's the most amazing person that has ever walked this earth, but I think people have begun to believe that because he has a weird hair cut or an incredibly stupid voice, that that makes him a worse person than he actually is. I was stuck around a month ago on what to write on the subject of gun crime in my English assessment. It seemed like an easy thing to write about at first but the more I thought about it, the more I realised that it was more difficult to write about than I  thought. Not because it was necessarily a particularly difficult topic to answer, it's actually a lot simpler than we think, but when we're indoctrinated by such a one-sided perspective on ...

How difficult is it to live without plastic? - Writing Wednesday

By -
Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, I read this great article from my local village newsletter about this woman who tried to live an entire month without plastic. I don't read the newsletter often because I don't usually find interesting articles in it. I would modestly consider it as something tailored more towards old people! But my mum was talking about this particular article and I decided it was worth a read.  We go on and on about how we should use less plastic without thinking about the many useful things that are actually wrapped in plastic. In the article, the author Catherine Burch, states that she could only buy wine, beer, posh chocolate in cardboard packets, eggs, and a couple of over-ripe tangerines. For her family of 5 people at dinner, there was nothing to cook. Coming to think of it, there are so many things you cannot buy because it's all wrapped in plastic. Sliced or whole loaves of bread, milk cartons with the plastic cap, fruit and ...
