Why choose dance?

Often I find that people ask me why I choose dance over any other career. If you are a professional dancer then you don't get paid well and it is really difficult to get noticed in the business and that I completely understand. However, ever since I've started dance I've noticed that my confidence has risen and I am more willing to challenge myself. In dance you have to perform in front of people and you have to show off what you can do. I've been doing dance for 7 years and throughout those years I have got my distinction in hip-hop, I've danced at The Royal Albert Hall, I've taken part in shows and so much more. So although I completely empathise when people say that being a dancer is not high paying or it's really difficult to get noticed in the business, I do do dance because it always makes me challenge myself. I personally think that is important with anything that you are looking to take further in the future. Always make sure that you love it and it challenges you that little bit more.

    I think everyone should do what calls to them. For me it was working with books so I worked in a library. For you it is dance and that's wonderful. Don't let anyone tell you that dance isn't for you. It obviously is.

      Yes that is so true! For me, dance is like my soul career. I work hard to get it and my confidence always improves through doing it. But others have a soul career too. Wether that's being a shopkeeper or a business manager. It's always a pleasure to do something that you love to do because then, it doesn't feel like work. People should always treat that as a gift because sometimes, people do not have the choice in this matter. Thanks for the comment Kathy!

The IB dance mock exam - Dance Saturday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,  On the last Friday before the half term holiday, I'm going to be doing an IB dance mock exam. This mock exam will consist of me coming up with my own choreography that I will perform as a solo piece in front of my teacher. It's not going to be as formal of an examination as the rest of the exams that I'm going to be sitting but it's still a pretty big deal since I am still going to get awarded a grade at the end of it.  My day on Friday will begin at 9:00am and for the first part of the day, I will be working on my solo and coming up with the choreography. I think for the rest of the day we will be spending some time catching up on some theory and working on writing up the rest of our dance investigation as part of our coursework. Blogmas day 3- Not my best performance :(

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, Today I woke up really happy and excited because I had my dance exam. I thought I was ready; I set up my bag,put on my street uniform, and did my hair. I then got in the car and drove to the studio with my dad. When I arrived, they checked what I was doing first and it was ballroom. However, I was dressed and ready in my street uniform. Luckily, I had arrived 30 minutes early which was what was required so I got my dress and my shoes out of my bag and went to the toilets to change. I then returned to the studio to get my number pinned to my dress. Suddenly, everyone was saying that I needed to hurry up because I was dancing next. However, my first dance was at 11:50 and it was only 11:30. However, I was told to run to the down stairs studio so I did. There I met up with my dance teacher and she was telling me what I was going to do. She said "you're doing waltz and samba" and I stupidly replied "yes" out

Bloggerversary

Hello everybody and welcome to another blog post, 1 year ago, I started blogging. It was a big idea of mine because I loved to write. I remember my first ever blog post. It was about what I ate in the evening in Norfolk. I was so excited. I realised I had got some views almost instantly on that blog post. Then I realised that it was me. LOL. Just goes to show how inexperienced I was with the blogging community back then. I stopped blogging for a couple of months then got back into it again in the summer. I loved the summer because I visited my family for the first time in 5 years. They live far away on an island in the east coast of South Africa called Réunion. It's beautiful there and I will never miss it because I have recorded my time there, here on this blog. One of my biggest blogging challenges was when I did Blogmas at Christmas. It was challenging but very rewarding in the end. You guys seemed to love it. I love blogging. I can express my thoughts and feelings very well.

Being a model and role model are two separate things

Hello Jujubears and welcome to another blog post, Today I am going to be talking about the differences between models and role models and why we might get the two mixed up. I was recently reading Anne Frank's diary and she brought up how her parents wanted her to be the model child. At first, I thought it made sense but on second glance, I realised that it didn't. For example, we consider models to be figures in photos and magazines like Vogue. All models are doing is promoting something that they don't own. So by saying someone is or has to be a model child, it's implementing that they have to represent something that they don't own ; something that isn't them. To me, this makes sense and answers a lot of difficult questions. When we look at magazines, we look at something someone else has and try to fit it with our own body type.
