Hello, Réunion island

Hi guys,

Welcome back to my blog. This summer me and my family travelled to Réunion island which is located on the east coast of south Africa. Not many people in the UK know about this island since it is very small. However it makes a great holiday spot. Since the island is below the equator, summer in Europe here is winter. Although, it doesn't feel like winter. It usually gets as hot as 30°C, sometimes more, which doesn't always happen in the UK. My cousins who live here actually caught a cold and it was boiling outside! They were talking to us with their husky voices. It was really funny.

Is figure skating a dance style? - Dance Saturday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, I feel like I'm saying this a lot but apologies for not posting on Wednesday. There's just been a lot of sad things happening this week in general and in my personal life and finding the time to post has just not been on my radar. I will talk all about it in my next post but for now, I just wanted to post something fun for Dance Saturday. A question that has popped up a lot in my mind recently is, can ice-skating be considered as a style of dance? Personally, I think it can. I've been watching a lot of figure skaters on YouTube and Instagram recently and I've just been completely in awe of their talent. How one can just do an axel and barrel roll on bladed shoes on slippery ice just amazes me. I would say that I've grown to become a better skater because I've done it often enough with my friends and my family that I've gained a decent balance on the ice but there was one time when I was skating on Jesus

The individuals of the Holocaust: The victims and the perpetrators - Writing Wednesday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post,  Recently, I got given the opportunity by my school to take part in the Lessons from Auschwitz Online Project, to further my understanding on the events that took place during the Holocaust. I was joined by over a hundred other sixth form students from across the UK and I found it quite amazing that so many young people, whether they already had knowledge on the Holocaust or not, had decided to get involved and educate themselves on such a raw and often confusing historical time period. However, whether selfishly or unselfishly, I decided to take part in this project set up by the Holocaust Educational Trust for myself. I am a big believer in educating and bettering yourself before taking the responsibility of preaching your truth to others, so although I already knew a lot about the Holocaust, I endeavoured to find out more so that I could pass on my valuable knowledge to you, in the hope that you can reciprocate the action for ot

What I got in my dance medal test- Dance Saturday

Hello everybody and welcome back to another blog post, Despite having done the wrong dance on my exam, as many of you I'm sure are aware of, I still managed to get awarded honours without any notes of improvement in waltz and samba. The maximum grade for honours is 85% and I got awarded 92% all round which is way over that percentage. For street, I also did really well, I got honours again and I got 93% for my first dance and 94% for my second dance. These grades are not as high as my previous ones but this time, they brought in an examiner who's quite harsh with her marking so that's why. Anyway, although I had a slight panic that I did the wrong dance, I still got a very good grade. The key lesson to learn from this is to believe that you can do it.
